Java Web Application Developer - Front End
Position Summary
InstantService, a SaaS company, is looking for a passionate front-end Web Developer with Java experience. If you enjoy a small and dynamic company environment working both as a team member and on your own where everything you do has an impact, then please join us.
As a member of the core Software Engineering team at InstantService, you will be working closely with the team of seasoned back-end Java developers to produce front-end web-based application components and features. Your front-end web development activities for the core application will include analysis, design and coding to requirements. This position requires a strong understanding of complex functionality & Java application frameworks along with comprehensive HTML and JavaScript skills in a Servlet environment. Short-term you will be expected to get up to speed with the environment and become familiar with the existing application components. Long-term you will be responsible for contributing directly to the development of new or replacement components. We are looking for an experienced developer with passion for technology and a deep background with relevant skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain front-end features and functionality in a multi-tier web environment using standard web technologies
to meet requirements for market differentiation, performance improvements, and better user experiences.
- Collaborate with other software engineers to ensure appropriate integration with back-end development, standards, and systems .
- Work closely with the QA, and IT teams to assist with testing and deploying the product.
- Assist with escalated support issues as directed.
- Research emerging enterprise web technologies.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Qualifications
- Extensive experience with enterprise-level multi-tier web software environment
- Demonstrated strong HTML and JavaScript development skills
- Demonstrated experience with Java 5 (or greater) and Java EE technologies, including Spring, Servlets, and JSP
- Experience with Application Servers and Frameworks, such as Tomcat, WebLogic, or Resin
- Strong knowledge of web application security
- Experience using and integrating third-party JavaScript libraries such as YUI and JQuery JavaScript libraries
- Experience with CSS, AJAX, XML, and XSLT design and programming
- Knowledgeable of web standards and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience interfacing with SQL databases or abstraction layers serving as the backend to production web applications
- Strong analytical, problem solving, technical troubleshooting, and production diagnostic skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and listening skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Experience with work environments involving SDLC processes and methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Subversion

Bachelor degree in web technology development or design preferred
